I got married at 34 and my wife was 35. I have no regrets about this; we found each other at the right time and our maturity has allowed us to cultivate a mutually affirming marriage. We were both single a long time and faced down the possibility of lifelong singleness, so I think that means we are less likely to take each other for granted. When I think about my daughter, for all the reasons you mentioned I would encourage her to look for a marriage partner in her twenties, or at least be open to it. I would never want her to be in her mid-thirties or late thirties wondering if she’ll ever find someone suitable to marry.
